THE MOST LOVED INDIAN IN RUSSIA
VISWANATHAN ANAND has been honoured with RUSSIAN STATE AWARD.
More than two years after the World Title
match held in the Tretyakov State Vladimir Putin awarded
the participants of the match Anand and Gelfand with the Order of Friendship
"for their contribution in strengthening friendship and cooperation with
the Russian Federation, for developing economical, scientific and cultural
ties."
Israeli and Indian players met Putin on May 31 in 2012
immediately after the match has finished in Anand's favor.
